Associate, Financial Institutions Investment Banking (Wealth & Asset Management M&A)

Location: London

The Opportunity

A leading independent investment banking advisory firm is seeking an Associate to join its London-based Financial Institutions Group. The team advises clients across the wealth management, asset management, private banking, and broader financial services sectors, with a particular focus on strategic M&A and cross-border transactions throughout Europe.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected platform with an excellent reputation in the financial institutions advisory market, offering significant transaction exposure, direct client interaction, and a clear path for development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute M&A and strategic advisory mandates across the wealth management and asset management sectors.
  • Develop detailed financial models, valuation analyses, merger models, and transaction materials.
  • Support all stages of the deal process, including due diligence, marketing, negotiations, and execution.
  • Prepare client presentations, board materials, information memoranda, and strategic analyses.
  • Conduct industry and company research across financial services sectors.
  • Work closely with senior bankers and clients on complex domestic and cross-border transactions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Analysts within the team.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3-6 years of investment banking experience gained at a leading advisory firm, boutique, or bulge bracket institution.
  • Strong deal execution experience across M&A transactions, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable sector experience within one or more of the following areas:
    • Wealth Management
    • Asset Management
    • Private Banking
    • Financial Services
  • Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills, including DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, and merger modelling.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent English speaker.
  • Additional European language capabilities are highly desirable, particularly:
    • German
    • French
    • Italian
    • Spanish
  • Strong academic record from a leading university.
