About the Role

A leading independent advisory firm is building out its healthcare and life sciences team in London. The practice advises pharmaceutical companies, biotech, medtech, and healthcare services businesses, together with the private equity funds that back them, on their most significant transactions. No balance sheet, no financing product, no conflicts. Pure advice, senior attention on every mandate, and a genuine reputation in global pharma and European healthcare.

The Opportunity

We are hiring an Associate to sit at the centre of live healthcare M&A processes. You will own the analysis, build the materials that go to boards and buyers, and work directly with senior bankers who are recognised names in the sector. Small teams mean early responsibility and real client exposure, not three years of comps behind a screen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute sell side and buy side healthcare and pharma mandates, from pitch through to completion.
  • Build and own the valuation work: DCF, LBO, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and where relevant risk adjusted NPV for pipeline assets.
  • Draft the deal materials that carry the story, including teasers, information memorandums, management presentations, and board papers.
  • Run diligence workstreams and the data room, coordinating legal, financial, and commercial advisers.
  • Support licensing, carve out, and partnering discussions alongside conventional M&A.
  • Manage analysts on your deals and hold the quality bar on everything that leaves the team.
  • Work directly with senior clients and counterparties, and start building the judgement that turns into origination later.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We Are Looking For

  • Around 2 to 5 years of post graduate investment banking experience, at Associate 1 to Associate 3 level.
  • Healthcare, pharma, biotech, medtech, or healthcare services exposure that is central to your deal sheet, not a single pitch on an otherwise generalist CV. This is the filter that matters most.
  • Sell side M&A execution as the core of your job. Applicants whose experience is transaction services, financial due diligence, audit, in house corporate development, commercial diligence, or strategy consulting will not be considered for this seat.
  • Strong modelling and valuation ability, with the commercial judgement to explain why the number is the number.
  • Confident written and verbal communication with senior clients.
  • Degree educated. A bulge bracket, elite boutique, or established sector specialist background is strongly preferred.
  • Existing right to work in the UK. French, German, or a Nordic language is a real advantage for European coverage.
