About the Opportunity
Mercor is recruiting experienced Investment Banking Experts for a research project with a leading foundational AI lab. The engagement is designed for professionals with hands-on investment banking experience who can apply their expertise across financial analysis, transaction materials, modeling, and investment-related work. Your industry knowledge will help support the development and evaluation of AI systems designed to understand and perform sophisticated investment banking tasks.
Key Areas of Expertise
Candidates should have professional experience in investment banking and expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Financial Modeling
- Pitch Decks & Presentation Materials
- Investment Analysis & Summary Memos
- Company Analysis
- Industry Analysis
- Financial analysis and valuation
- Transaction and deal-related analysis
Responsibilities
- Apply practical investment banking knowledge to research and AI-related projects.
- Develop or evaluate financial models based on realistic business and transaction scenarios.
- Prepare, review, or assess investment analysis summaries and financial memos.
- Analyze companies using financial, operational, and industry-specific information.
- Conduct company and industry analysis to evaluate business performance, competitive positioning, and market dynamics.
- Create or evaluate professional-quality pitch decks and investment materials.
- Apply sound financial judgment when assessing assumptions, analyses, and conclusions.
- Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, logical consistency, financial reasoning, and professional quality.
- Provide clear and actionable feedback to improve AI performance on investment banking tasks.
- Collaborate with the research team on an asynchronous basis.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment throughout the engagement.

Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional investment banking experience.
- Experience working at a top investment banking or financial services firm.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following:
- Financial modeling
- Pitch decks
- Investment analysis and memos
- Company analysis
- Industry analysis
- Strong financial analysis and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and analytical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with M&A, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, or other investment banking transactions.
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and financial statement analysis.
- Experience building or reviewing complex financial models.
- Experience preparing client-facing presentations and transaction materials.
- Familiarity with investment research and industry research.
- Ability to evaluate financial assumptions and identify inconsistencies or weaknesses in analysis.
- Experience working on AI evaluation, financial data, or research projects is beneficial but not required.

Engagement Details
- Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week
- Initial engagement: Minimum 4 weeks
- Potential extension: Significant extension or rotation to similar future projects may be available.
- Strong performance and successful contributions may increase the likelihood of selection for future Mercor projects.
Compensation
$100–$130 per hour
Top-performing contributors may be eligible for potential rate increases based on performance and project needs.

Application Process
Interested candidates should demonstrate:
- At least 2 years of investment banking experience.
- Experience at a top-tier investment banking firm.
- Expertise in one or more of the specified investment banking disciplines.
- Availability to commit at least 10 hours per week.
- Ability to participate in a minimum four-week engagement.
Selected candidates may be considered for this project as well as similar future research engagements based on performance and project requirements.
