Associate, Financial Restructuring Advisory
Location: London, United Kingdom
A leading independent advisory firm with a highly regarded restructuring and special situations practice is seeking an Associate to join its London team.
The firm advises corporates, financial sponsors, lenders, creditors, and other stakeholders on some of the most complex and high-profile restructuring, refinancing, liability management, and distressed M&A situations across EMEA. The team has established itself as one of the most active franchises in the market, working on landmark assignments involving large-cap corporates, sponsor-backed businesses, and cross-border financial restructurings.
This represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious investment banking professional looking to accelerate their career within a market-leading advisory platform that offers significant responsibility, client exposure, and involvement in complex transactions across the capital structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of financial restructurings, recapitalisations, refinancings, liability management exercises, distressed M&A, and special situations transactions.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models, including integrated operating models, liquidity forecasts, debt capacity analyses, recovery models, and valuation frameworks.
- Conduct detailed analysis of company performance, capital structures, financing arrangements, and stakeholder positions.
- Prepare client presentations, restructuring proposals, creditor materials, board packs, and transaction documentation.
- Work closely with management teams, sponsors, lenders, creditors, legal advisers, and other stakeholders throughout transaction processes.
- Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support senior bankers in business development initiatives, pitch preparation, and client relationship management.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills, transaction experience, and a genuine interest in complex financial situations.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a strong academic record.
- Demonstrated interest in financial restructuring, special situations, distressed investing, or complex corporate finance transactions.
- Approximately 4+ years of experience within Investment Banking, Restructuring Advisory, Leveraged Finance, Debt Advisory, or a related field, gained at a leading investment bank, advisory firm, or boutique.
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and their practical application across corporate finance and restructuring situations.
- Advanced quantitative, analytical, and financial modelling capabilities.
- Proven experience building and operating sophisticated financial models, including DCF, LBO, liquidity, and scenario analysis models.
- Ability to operate independently and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively alongside colleagues and clients at all levels.
- Adaptable, resilient, and capable of thriving in a demanding but highly rewarding advisory environment.
