Short Description
Help deliver financing solutions that support major projects and energy transition.
About the business area
Corporate and Institutional Banking helps some of the world’s largest companies grow and succeed by offering investment and financial solutions. Working across markets, sectors and borders, you’ll help deliver the insight, connectivity and support that enable clients to navigate change and unlock new opportunities.
In Infrastructure Finance, we work with companies, investors and governments across areas like infrastructure, digital and telecoms, transport, logistics, support services, and power, utilities and renewables. The team helps clients understand their funding options, shape the right approach, and put plans into action. This includes supporting major projects and playing an important role in helping clients move towards a lower-carbon future.
Who you are
You’re curious, analytical and interested in solving complex problems while building strong relationships. You don’t need to know everything about investment banking yet — what matters is your drive to learn, your resilience and your willingness to get involved. You could be a great fit if you work well in teams, communicate clearly and can break down complex information to see what matters most. You stay focused under pressure, adapt quickly and take ownership of your work. You’re proactive, thoughtful and interested in building trust over time. If you want to learn how major financing decisions support real assets, infrastructure and long-term client goals, this could be a strong fit.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll do
You’ll work with deal teams on live transactions across Infrastructure Finance or Export Finance, supporting clients on projects with long-term impact. You could help review financial statements, carry out credit analysis, assess project financials and due diligence, and build or update financial models used in debt financing and valuation work. You may also prepare client materials such as teasers and information memorandums, research market developments, and create insights for internal teams and clients. Along the way, you’ll work with colleagues across banking teams and specialist functions, and see how finance and advisory support clients on areas including infrastructure and Net Zero transition. It’s detailed, hands-on work with real exposure to live deals. The internship also includes structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role, giving you chances to demonstrate how you think, collaborate and deliver, through tasks such as project work, presentations, interviews or skills-based evaluations.
What you'll learn
You’ll get the training, coaching and practical exposure needed to start building a career in infrastructure finance. A week of structured training at the start of the internship will help you strengthen your understanding of financing concepts, product knowledge and the analytical tools used to support clients. You’ll also build relationship skills by learning how trust and credibility are developed with colleagues and clients, and you’ll deepen your professionalism by understanding how to handle sensitive information with care. Because the work supports real assets across sectors and geographies, you’ll also gain a broader view of how finance connects to major projects and long-term change. By the end, you’ll have stronger technical confidence and commercial awareness.
