Origination Analyst
Investment Banking | Fundraising | M&A Advisory
Location: Europe
We are hiring a regional Origination Analyst for the EU covering also the UK and Germany, Spain, Poland, Finland and the Baltic states where we have a strong portfolio, pipeline and need to strengthen our position regionally with a highly commercial, client-facing investment banking role focused on winning and shaping fundraising and M&A advisory mandates.
This is not a passive research or back-office position. Origination in our firm means identifying strong opportunities, engaging directly with founders and business owners, assessing the initial fundability and transaction potential of each case, and helping convert qualified prospects into signed advisory engagements. Lead generation is provided by our marketing department and full CRM/AI tools are available to streamline the process.
The role requires a commercially oriented person, with financial market knowledge, who is comfortable speaking with decision-makers, judging opportunity quality, negotiating fees, and discussing the proposed terms and conditions of an engagement with professionalism and confidence.
What the role involves
In this position, you will be responsible for the front end of the firm’s advisory pipeline. That includes:
- Identifying and approaching companies that may require fundraising or M&A advisory support
- Assessing whether an opportunity is commercially attractive and realistically fundable
- Performing an initial review of the company, business model, market context, and likely investor or buyer fit
- Engaging directly with founders, CEOs, and shareholders to understand objectives and readiness
- Helping move discussions from interest to mandate by presenting the value of our advisory approach
- Supporting the negotiation of fees, engagement scope, and commercial terms
- Working closely with senior leadership to determine whether a mandate should be pursued and on what basis
- Participate in the entire process of the funding journey from origination, analysis and structuring all the way to placement and closing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
