Our client is an entrepreneurial investment firm providing growth capital to founder-led businesses across Europe.
The firm invests on a flexible, deal-by-deal basis, bringing together entrepreneurs, family offices and private investors around individual opportunities. As the platform continues to grow, it is looking to appoint an Investment Director to lead capital formation and deepen its private investor network.
This is not a traditional institutional fund-IR role. The focus is on originating capital, building trusted investor relationships and raising against individual transactions.
Responsibilities
- Lead deal-by-deal fundraising across individual private equity and growth investments, taking ownership of capital formation from initial investor targeting through to final commitment.
- Originate capital from family offices, UHNW investors, private investment firms and wealth networks, developing relationships with investors capable of supporting multiple opportunities over time.
- Build and maintain a high-quality, transferable private-investor network, with a clear understanding of individual mandates, cheque sizes, sector preferences and investment criteria.
- Manage the full fundraising process from investor mapping and initial engagement through diligence, negotiation and commitment, maintaining momentum across multiple live conversations.
- Work directly with Partners and the investment team to position individual transactions, identify the most relevant investor audience and shape the fundraising approach for each opportunity.
- Develop clear and compelling investment narratives, presentations and bespoke investor materials that communicate the opportunity, structure, risk and return with precision.
- Build relationships with placement agents, private banks, wealth managers and other capital-introduction channels to broaden the firm's access to private capital.
- Help shape the firm's broader capital-formation strategy, bringing greater structure to investor coverage, relationship management and fundraising as the platform scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
- Strong track record in private capital raising, investor relations, placement, business development or investment banking, ideally within private markets or an entrepreneurial investment environment.

- Demonstrable experience raising capital for individual transactions, co-investments, SPVs, direct investments or other deal-by-deal structures.
- Comfortable originating investor relationships independently, developing new sources of capital rather than relying solely on an established institutional LP base.
- Strong commercial instincts and a proven ability to move investor relationships from initial engagement through to genuine capital commitments.
- Investment knowledge sufficient to discuss valuation, transaction structure, downside risk, return profile and exit considerations directly with sophisticated investors.
- Background from private equity, investment banking, placement, family office, wealth management or broader private markets, with strong exposure to capital formation and investor engagement.
