Madison Hunt is working with an established international infrastructure investment manager seeking to appoint an Investment Director who speaks French at a native, fluent or business-proficient level to its London team.

This is a broad investment role with equal responsibility for originating and leading new infrastructure investments and actively managing existing portfolio companies. The successful candidate will develop investment opportunities across Europe, lead transactions through underwriting and acquisition, and work closely with portfolio-company boards and management teams to deliver strategic growth and value-creation plans.

The position offers involvement across the full investment lifecycle, from origination and execution through active ownership and eventual exit.

Responsibilities:

  • Originate and assess new infrastructure investment opportunities across Europe.
  • Lead transactions from initial evaluation through due diligence, investment committee approval, negotiation and completion.
  • Take a leading role in the asset management of infrastructure investments across Europe.
  • Represent the investor at board level and build trusted relationships with portfolio-company management teams.
  • Develop, challenge and oversee detailed business plans and value-creation strategies.
  • Drive initiatives including organic growth, operational improvement, refinancing, capital investment, bolt-on acquisitions, strategic repositioning and management development.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance, identify emerging risks and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Lead complex or underperforming asset situations, working constructively with management teams and other shareholders.
  • Support major commercial negotiations, financing processes and strategic projects across the portfolio.
  • Bring an active-ownership perspective to the evaluation, underwriting and structuring of new investments.
  • Support exit preparation and execution, including positioning assets for their next phase of ownership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with management teams, advisers, industry participants and other market stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior investment professionals and contribute to the continued development of the European platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in direct infrastructure investing and asset management, ideally gained within an infrastructure fund, institutional investor or comparable principal-investment environment.
  • Strong transaction experience, with the ability to originate and lead investments rather than solely manage individual workstreams.
  • A strong record of working closely with portfolio-company boards and senior management teams.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and delivering value-creation plans rather than focusing principally on financial monitoring and reporting.
  • The commercial judgement to identify performance issues, challenge management constructively and lead assets through periods of growth, change or complexity.
  • Experience across initiatives such as operational improvement, business-plan delivery, refinancing, M&A, growth investment and strategic repositioning.
  • Exposure to value-add, core-plus or operationally intensive infrastructure investments.
  • Strong financial, analytical and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • French at a native, fluent or business-proficient level is essential.
  • An additional European language, particularly Spanish, would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to be based in London and travel regularly across Europe.
