Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is seeking to appoint an Investment Governance Officer to join the Investment Management Team.

Your key responsibility in this role will be to help ensure the MCA's investments are effectively managed, monitored, and governed, supporting the delivery of the Mayor's priorities and ensuring public funding achieves maximum impact for communities across the West of England. You'll play an important role in maintaining robust governance processes, supporting investment performance, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

We're looking for a proactive, organised, and detail-focused individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality governance and supporting investment programmes that make a real difference. If you enjoy working with data, building strong relationships, and ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a growing investment management function.

This is a critical time in our transformation and growth journey, and you'll be pivotal in helping us achieve our ambitions by:

  • Supporting the day-to-day management and monitoring of investment programmes and projects.
  • Developing and maintaining accurate investment records, reports, dashboards, and governance documentation.
  • Ensuring investment data is complete, accurate, and audit-ready across MCA systems and reporting platforms.
  • Completing governance processes, contract variations, approvals, and reporting requirements in line with agreed procedures. Providing analytical, administrative, and compliance support to the Investment Management team and wider stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing

Are you someone who is highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working with data, and ultimately always focuses on delivering excellent governance and value for money?

As our Investment Governance Officer, you'll:

  • Support investment managers with performance monitoring, issue tracking, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, governance papers, and investment management documentation.
  • Manage investment information within MCA systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Assist with audits, information requests, and governance reviews, ensuring records are maintained to a high standard. Identify risks, issues, and data quality concerns, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Support the continuous improvement of investment management processes, templates, and reporting arrangements.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and the sharing of best practice.

What You'll Bring

You'll be a motivated and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a structured environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
