Investment Manager – Mid-Market Private Equity | London
An established London private equity firm is adding a senior investment professional to its team. The firm invests in mid-market buyouts across the UK and Europe, backing management teams in profitable, founder-led and family-owned businesses through control and significant minority positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own transactions end-to-end - from origination through structuring, diligence and negotiation to completion - acting as the primary point of contact for management teams and advisers.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate finance advisers, management teams and intermediaries to generate proprietary and off-market opportunities.
- Lead commercial, financial and legal workstreams, coordinating external advisers and forming an independent view on investment merit.
- Author investment papers and present recommendations directly to the Investment Committee.
- Work alongside management teams post-completion on strategic initiatives, buy-and-build and exit preparation, including board representation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- 5-8 years in mid-market private equity with a demonstrable track record of leading buyout transactions to completion.
- Proven ability to run a deal independently- origination, execution and negotiation - rather than supporting a wider team.
- Strong commercial judgement and the credibility to sit opposite management teams and advisers.
- Equity investing background essential; credit, debt advisory and lending-led profiles are not a fit for this mandate.
- Prior board or portfolio value-creation exposure advantageous.
