Investment Manager – Creative Industries Clusters
Salary: £36,650 per annum Hours: Full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE minimum) Contract: Open-ended Location: Polaris House, Swindon (Hybrid working available) Grade: UKRI Band D Closing Date: 15th July 2026, 23:59
About AHRC & the Creative Industries Team
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), champions world-leading research into culture and creativity. The Creative Industries (CI) team leads programmes across the sector, including:
- Creative Industries Clusters
- Immersive Arts
- AHTV & TV PhD (with Edinburgh TV Foundation)
- Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre
Collaboration with teams across AHRC—such as Infrastructure, International Partnerships & Engagement, and Design, Commercialisation & Innovation—ensures cohesive delivery of creative and industry-focused initiatives.
The Creative Industries Clusters initiative drives innovation and economic growth via partnerships between universities, businesses, and regional bodies. Following success in the first and second rounds, AHRC is now expanding its support for this growing portfolio.
About the Role
The Investment Manager will deliver operational, coordination, and programme-wide support for the Creative Industries Clusters portfolio. Reporting to a Senior Investment Manager (Band E), this role ensures smooth, high-quality programme management for a complex and expanding portfolio.
Key areas of focus:
- Collaborating with Senior Investment Managers (SIMs)
- Managing day-to-day processes, documentation, workflows, and team coordination
- Leading critical operating workstreams like event management, administration, communications, procurement, MEL, risk tracking, and reporting
Reports to: Senior Investment Manager (Band E), Creative Industries Clusters
Main Responsibilities
1. Programme Operational Support
- Coordinate day-to-day activities, documentation, workflows, and team operations.
- Maintain trackers, schedules, and logs to support oversight by SIMs.
2. Delivery Workstream Leadership
Lead operational tasks to ensure smooth portfolio delivery, including:
- Event management: Coordination of planning, logistics, materials, follow-ups
- Administration: Meeting organisation, scheduling, minutes management, document handling
- Communications support: Drafting updates, content collation, internal/external coordination
- Procurement & commissioning: Advising on UKRI-compliant procurement processes
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL): Data collection, evidence provision, maintaining MEL materials
- Risk management: Updating risk logs, issue tracking, escalation to SIMs
- Reporting: Compiling portfolio information for SIM reviews

3. Assist Senior Relationship Management
- Support SIM-led stakeholder engagement, including coordination, briefings, and follow-ups.
- Ensure clarity and deadlines for meetings, notes, and information distribution.
- Track Cluster-related action items to maintain coherent stakeholder follow-up.
4. Contribute to Wider Team Activity
- Collaborate across AHRC directorates and across UKRI, supporting initiatives like:
- Information gathering
- Meeting preparation & contribution
- Programme-wide joint projects
- Provide flexible scalable support to adapt to the evolving Clusters portfolio.
About You
AHRC seeks a solution-oriented candidate with keen interest in the creative industries and an understanding of research funding. Your experience should demonstrate:
- Funding-sector familiarity, whether in research/administration, commercial or policy settings (e.g., government/civil service).
- Proven track record in delivering multidisciplinary programmes, projects, or portfolios in a complex environment.

- Data-driven analysis: Gathering, organising, and interpreting information for reporting, risk tracking, and MEL.
- Collaborative interpersonal skills: Comfort working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- High attention to detail: A commitment to quality assurance in every task.
