Role: Investment Manager

The Investment Manager reports to a Managing Director within the LCM Partners investment team. The department of ~40 Investment professionals has a strong capability across a variety of different transactions across varying European geographies.

The Investment Manager owns transactions end to end. The focus of the role is running deals with minimal oversight, from modelling and pricing through negotiation and completion, and being accountable for the output and the development of the junior deal team.

Key Requirements

Analytics

  • Building all cashflow and pricing models from scratch across secured and unsecured portfolios, understanding every part of the model including its limitations, reviewing and challenging the modelling produced by the deal team, setting and defending pricing strategy using portfolio performance data and local recovery experience, and leading due diligence including judging how findings affect value.

Deal Management

  • Running standard NPL transactions end to end with minimal oversight, managing sellers, advisors, lawyers and servicers throughout, preparing and presenting investment proposals and running Investment Committee and GP papers independently, leading SPA negotiation and transaction documentation with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel, and delegating effectively across the deal team.

Relationships

  • Building relationships with clients, advisors, banking partners and other market participants that are strong enough to generate origination, identifying new business opportunities alongside the Managing Directors, and managing the junior investment team and servicing partners effectively while building strong relationships with all members of the investment team and the internal teams it works alongside.

Knowledge

  • A complete understanding of internal processes and procedures, including those that interact with third parties such as servicers, a detailed understanding of enforcement and insolvency regimes and court timelines across relevant jurisdictions, knowing how servicing and collections work from amicable settlement through to litigation and property enforcement, and depth across the loan asset classes the business invests in, in more than one jurisdiction.

Development

  • Managing analysts, mentoring and developing the analyst and associate cohort with coaching on both content and modelling, contributing to the internal training programme, and demonstrating ownership of your own continuous personal and professional development.

Education

  • University graduate, with a strong preference for a numerate or analytical subject, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of leading transactions end to end and of building pricing models from first principles, typically gained over a minimum of six years within a professional services firm, investment or asset manager with a credit focus, credit rating agency, servicer or investment banking.

Key Skills

  • Able to run several transactions and stakeholder groups at once across multiple geographies
  • Track record of leading negotiations and of presenting to an investment committee or equivalent decision making forum
  • Experience of managing, coaching and developing junior colleagues
  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to an advanced level, including building models from first principles
  • Written and spoken English to a high standard
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate accurate and professional communication at all levels
  • Sound commercial judgement, and the confidence to form and defend a view on value
