Job Description

Join us at a pivotal moment, where investment operations expertise, data integrity, and process excellence come together to underpin effective LGPS pooling and deliver strong outcomes.

The Private Markets Operations Analyst plays a key role within the Investment Operations team, which provides essential support to the Investment function. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and accurate processing and support for new investment activity and life cycle support of existing investments.

The role involves daily interaction and collaboration with internal teams across the firm, primarily the Investment teams but also including Client Services and Compliance, as well as with key external partners such as the Fund Administrator/Accountant, technology vendors, and the General Partners. The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, support the implementation of investment strategies, and help ensure regulatory and procedural compliance in line with best practice and LGPS Central’s commitment to excellence in asset management.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Investment Operations Analyst (Private Markets), here's an insight into what you'll be getting up to:

Fund and LP Administration

  • Provide operational support to Fund Managers.
  • Preparing cashflow notices and managing cashflow activity with investors and General Partners.
  • Bank and cash management and reconciliation.
  • Managing foreign exchange requirements.
  • Monitoring, processing, and payment of invoices.
  • Oversight of the Fund Administrator for outsourced services including reviewing ongoing KPI and SLA performance.
  • Resolving investor queries.
  • Supporting internal audits.
  • Contribute to the development of the Target Operating Model.
  • Ad-Hoc project support.

Accounting and Reporting services

  • Maintaining investment and accounting records.
  • Reconciling financial statement line items.
  • Supporting valuation of investments.
  • Annual accounts preparation in compliance with FRS 102.
  • Preparing performance calculations.
  • Annual financial statement audit liaison.
  • Cost transparency reporting.
  • Preparation of quarterly performance reporting.

Regulatory and compliance

  • Periodic monitoring and review of the investors admitted and entities activity.
  • Compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Formulating and implementing detailed compliance procedures in relation to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing AIFMD Annex IV reporting.
  • Liaising with tax advisor for partnership tax compliance and tax structuring.
  • Ensuring compliance with Limited Partnership Agreement for administrative functions.

Requirements

  • Previous Fund Administration and/or Fund Accounting experience for Private Market investments, from either an Asset Management or Fund Administrator background.
  • Some previous experience of supporting any of Private Equity, Private Debt, Infrastructure, Property investments is a must.
  • An understanding of the roles played by an Outsourced Administrator.
  • Any experience of Charles River, eFront, or similar platforms would be an advantage.
  • Competent grasp of the ‘life of a trade’ structure, knowledge of investment and accounting requirements, and preparation of call and distribution notices.
  • Understanding of regulations pertaining to Private Market investments.
  • Proven track record of outstanding customer service, ideally servicing Financial Institutions.
  • High attention to detail, analytical.
  • Able to communicate complex and highly-technical matters in a way which is understandable and relevant.
  • Confidence when communicating.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills, able to develop pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to build effective relationships across all levels of the company.
  • Highly organised and able to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities under significant time pressures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and people management skills.
  • Ability to challenge appropriately.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
