Job Title: Associate Director, Investment Strategy & Portfolio Construction
About the Opportunity
Our client, a global top-10 Sovereign Wealth Fund, is looking to add an Associate Director to its Investment Strategy & Portfolio Construction team, responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Fund's Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Annual Investment Plan (AIP).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment strategy gained within a sovereign wealth fund, pension fund endowment, or similar institutional investor. Candidates should possess strong quantitative capabilities, including risk-return modelling, portfolio optimization, scenario analysis, and private markets cash flow forecasting, and be comfortable presenting recommendations to senior investment stakeholders.
Role Overview
The role offers visibility across the entire investment platform, partnering with public and private market investment teams, treasury, risk, and economics functions to shape portfolio-level investment decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 13+ years of relevant experience within institutional investing, asset allocation, investment strategy, portfolio construction, or total portfolio management.
- Strong experience across both public and private markets.
- Expertise in Strategic Asset Allocation, capital market assumptions, risk modelling, and portfolio optimisation.
- Experience with private markets cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, and investment planning.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence investment decisions across multiple teams.

Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Asset Allocation
- Support the development and periodic review of the Fund's Strategic Asset Allocation across asset classes, sectors, and geographies.
- Conduct long-term risk-return analysis and provide allocation recommendations to senior investment leadership.
Investment Planning
- Lead analytical work supporting the Annual Investment Plan, including portfolio deployment priorities, funding requirements, and allocation pathways.
- Develop private markets cash flow forecasts and liquidity analysis to support capital deployment decisions.
Portfolio Construction

- Conduct portfolio optimization, scenario analysis, and risk assessment across public and private market exposures.
- Evaluate portfolio positioning and recommend rebalancing actions where allocations deviate from target levels.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor portfolio execution against approved allocation targets and investment plans.
- Prepare decision-support materials and reports for senior stakeholders and investment committees.
Funding & Capital Allocation
- Partner with Treasury, Capital Markets, and investment teams to assess funding, redeployment, and portfolio rebalancing requirements.
- Support capital allocation decisions from a total-portfolio perspective.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with investment, risk, and economics teams to gather qualitative and quantitative inputs into portfolio construction decisions.
- Act as a key advisor on asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment planning matters across the organisation.
Team Leadership
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continued development of the Investment Strategy & Portfolio Construction function.
