I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The role
Join our Workplace Investment team at a pivotal time as we shape the future of our default investment proposition. This role will lead the delivery of key strategic initiatives, including the introduction of private markets into Sustainable Multi Asset (SMA), the review and redesign of our at-retirement investment strategy, and the scaling of our Future Opportunities proposition.
You will develop investment recommendations, coordinate governance approvals, oversee implementation planning, and work closely with Distribution, Asset Management, Investment Operations and Master Trust stakeholders to ensure successful delivery. A key responsibility will be agreeing, shaping, and driving forward our 2027 proposition roadmap, balancing member outcomes, commercial considerations, and regulatory requirements.
You will combine strong investment knowledge, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking to deliver complex proposition enhancements that support better long-term retirement outcomes for members.
What are we looking for?
- Lead the development and delivery of strategic investment proposition initiatives across SMA, Future Opportunities, and the route into retirement solutions.
- Define the requirements for future strategic asset allocation reviews, supported by robust member, commercial and investment analysis.
- Drive governance activity through proposition development, business case creation, and approval forums.
- Coordinate implementation planning and stakeholder engagement across Distribution, Asset Management, Investment Operations, Master Trust and Investment Communications.
- Shape and deliver the 2027 investment proposition roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve member outcomes, enhance competitiveness and support long-term business growth.
