Job Description

Join LGPS Central at a pivotal moment, where active management, investment risk, and long-term outcomes come together.

We are seeking an Investment Risk Analyst to join LGPS Central in Wolverhampton. Reporting to the Investment Risk Manager, you will support the implementation of the firm’s Investment Risk Policy across Public and Private Markets, working closely with colleagues across Investment, Risk, and Operations.

You will assist in monitoring and reporting portfolio risks, producing risk analytics, and supporting the development of models and systems to ensure robust and effective risk management.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Investment Risk Analyst, a flavour of what you will get involved in includes:

Investment Risk Oversight & Reporting

  • Assist in the delivery of LGPS Central’s Investment Risk Policy and associated procedures, ensuring consistent application across funds and mandates.
  • Produce, check, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports, highlighting key exposures, breaches, and trends across portfolios.
  • Maintain data integrity within the risk systems, ensuring all positions, benchmarks, and market data are accurate and up to date.
  • Support the monitoring of risk limits, exposures, stress tests, and performance attribution measures.
  • Help identify and explain changes in portfolio risk profiles, concentration levels, and market sensitivities.

Quantitative Analysis & Modelling

  • Work with the Investment Risk Manager and Senior Investment Risk Manager to develop and enhance quantitative models for market, credit, and liquidity risk.
  • Run VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis to assess portfolio resilience under different market conditions.
  • Support validation and back-testing of models and ensure methodologies are documented and applied consistently.
  • Use analytical tools (e.g. Power BI, Python, Excel, Tableau) to automate recurring analyses and improve efficiency and visualisation.
  • Conduct data quality checks and reconciliations between internal systems and third-party providers.

Support for Public & Private Markets

  • Support the assessment and reporting of risks for both Public Market portfolios (equities, fixed income, multi-asset) and Private Market portfolios (private equity, credit, infrastructure, property).
  • Work with portfolio teams to ensure new investments, valuation updates, and transactions are correctly captured within the risk system.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of look-through risk analytics for multi-layered fund structures.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk analysis and dashboards for Private Markets oversight reviews.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
