We're looking for an Investment Risk & Performance Analyst to join Benchmark's Investment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the oversight, analysis, and reporting of investment risk and portfolio performance across our investment propositions, model portfolios, and managed portfolio services.
Working alongside the Investment Team while maintaining independent oversight from portfolio management activities, you'll provide valuable insight into portfolio construction, investment outcomes, and risk exposures. You'll help strengthen governance, improve reporting, and support the delivery of strong client outcomes across Benchmark's investment solutions.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset, a passion for financial markets, and experience within investment management, wealth management, or asset management.
What you'll do
Investment Risk Analysis
- Monitor portfolio exposures across market, liquidity, concentration, currency, and counterparty risks.
- Conduct portfolio risk assessments, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Review portfolio positioning against investment objectives and risk tolerances.
- Identify emerging investment risks and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Support the enhancement of investment risk methodologies and monitoring frameworks.
- Prepare risk reporting for Investment Governance Committees and senior stakeholders.
Performance Analytics & Attribution
- Produce portfolio performance, contribution, and attribution analysis.
- Analyse portfolio returns against benchmarks, objectives, and peer groups.
- Investigate the key drivers of performance and risk-adjusted returns.
- Support the production of investment committee papers and management information.
- Provide meaningful insight into portfolio construction and investment outcomes.

Governance & Oversight
- Monitor adherence to investment mandates, portfolio guidelines, and risk limits.
- Investigate and report on investment risk exceptions and breaches.
- Support governance activities, committee reporting, and regulatory oversight.
- Maintain risk registers, documentation, and management information.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of investment governance and control frameworks.
Data & Systems
- Use investment risk and portfolio analytics systems to support monitoring and reporting activities.
- Assist with the development of automated reporting and analytical dashboards.
- Conduct data validation and quality assurance reviews.
- Support enhancements to analytical tools, reporting capabilities, and monitoring frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment Research, Operations, Risk, and Compliance teams.
- Present analysis and findings to internal stakeholders.
- Support product development and investment proposition reviews.
- Help meet regulatory, governance, and Consumer Duty requirements through robust risk and performance oversight.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Experience within investment management, wealth management, asset management, or investment consulting.
- Strong understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment products.
- Knowledge of investment risk management principles and methodologies.
- Experience producing investment risk analysis, performance reporting, or investment analytics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to interpret portfolio, market, and performance data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach.

Desirable
- Experience supporting managed portfolio services, model portfolios, or discretionary investment management.
- Knowledge of FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, and investment governance frameworks.
- Experience using investment analytics platforms such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet, Aladdin, or FE Analytics.
- Understanding of performance attribution methodologies and risk modelling techniques.
- Experience supporting investment committees and governance forums.
- Understanding of first and second line risk management frameworks.
