About ShareAction

ShareAction is an independent charity and an expert on responsible investment. We work to build a world where the financial system serves our planet and its people. We set ambitious standards for how financial institutions, through their investment decisions, can protect our planet and its people and campaign for this approach to become the norm. We convene shareholders to collectively push companies to tackle climate crisis, protect nature, improve workers’ rights and shape healthier societies. In the UK and EU, we advocate for financial regulation that has society’s best interests at its core.

Position

This role sits in the Responsible Investment Standards Programme, which aims to define, defend and advance responsible investment standards and drive leadership among asset owners, especially pension funds. The Investor Campaigns & Engagement Manager would play a central role in driving our campaign to change the pension system and deliver ShareAction's investor engagement strategy. The role is key to building relationships with institutional investors, coordinating campaigns and engagement activities, and helping turn ShareAction's research into practical action that raises standards across the investment system.

A typical week could involve:

  • Meeting with pension funds and other investors
  • Planning an investor roundtable or webinar
  • Coordinating engagement activities with colleagues across the organisation
  • Contributing to campaign plans
  • Developing communications to share our work with external audiences
  • Helping shape the team's social media output
  • Assisting with media queries

As part of this role, you'll regularly engage with pension funds, other institutional investors and civil society organisations, building trusted relationships and identifying opportunities to influence responsible investment practices. You'll work closely with colleagues across research, campaigns, communications and policy to deliver coordinated engagement that supports ShareAction's wider strategy.

This is a varied and collaborative role that would suit someone who enjoys working with people, managing projects and helping deliver campaigns that contribute to long-term change across the investment system.

If this role sounds like something that would build on your current skill set and engage you, we’d love to hear from you!

Requirements

What You’ll Bring To The Team

We're looking for someone with excellent and demonstrable relationship-building and project management skills, who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver shared goals. You'll have experience contributing to or leading impactful campaigns, using a range of tactics to build pressure for positive change, be an excellent communicator who is comfortable turning complex, technical messages into accessible ones and using digital communication channels to amplify the reach of a piece of work or campaign, and be comfortable managing a range of projects and stakeholders at the same time.

This role would suit someone with experience in stakeholder engagement or campaign delivery, who enjoys working with external stakeholders to influence organisational behaviour and drive change. Experience of the investment system or working with institutional investors would be an advantage, but it's not essential. Knowledge of climate change, public health, or food systems, and how these connect to financial markets, is also an advantage. We're keen to hear from candidates with transferable skills and an interest in learning more about responsible investment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities and we are working hard to provide an environment where all can bring their authentic selves to work. We know that some people won’t apply for a role unless they meet all the requirements listed in the job description. If this is the case for you, but you think you would excel in this role, we want to hear from you!

Our hiring process is anonymised, we won’t ask for a cover letter and we don’t look at CVs until the interview stage. We do this so that we reduce the opportunity for unconscious biases to affect our decision making and so we prioritise skills and expertise over how well you can write a CV.

Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

While we embrace hybrid working at ShareAction, we also think there is a lot of value in spending time together in person. We run all-staff away days, a yearly retreat and more regular team and directorate meet-ups so that we can develop our ideas and plans together. As part of the induction process, we’ll invite you to our office in Aldgate so you can meet and get to know your line manager, team and others from across the organisation.

To be considered for this post you must be legally eligible to work in the UK, unfortunately we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
