Role Description

The Investor role is a contract position based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. In this role, the Investor will evaluate YooKatale’s business model, growth plans, and market opportunities, and contribute capital and strategic guidance to support expansion in Uganda and across Africa. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing financial performance, assessing risk and return profiles, participating in strategic planning discussions, and providing input on fundraising, partnerships, and scaling initiatives. The Investor will collaborate with founders and key team members to refine go-to-market strategies, strengthen governance, and align investment decisions with YooKatale’s mission of food accessibility. The role also involves monitoring portfolio impact, recommending improvements in operational efficiency, and supporting long-term value creation for customers, employees, and stakeholders.

  • Strong background in investment, finance, or venture capital, with experience assessing early-stage or growth-stage companies.
  • Demonstrated skills in financial analysis, business valuation, and risk assessment for impact-driven or technology-enabled ventures.
  • Knowledge of emerging markets, especially African or food-related ecosystems, and interest in social impact and inclusive economic growth.
  • Ability to collaborate with founders and cross-functional teams, offering strategic guidance on scaling, governance, and partnerships.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment, engaging both remotely and on-site in the London Area as needed.
  • Prior experience investing in or advising startups in food, agritech, marketplaces, or digital platforms is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
