iOS Software Engineer | Objective-C, Swift, UIKit & SwiftUI
Up to £77 per hour (Inside IR35)
Based on a 37.5-hour working week
Manchester - 2 days per week in the office, remote working otherwise
Initial 6-month contract
About the Client
Digital Skills are partnering with a leading global technology business that is investing heavily in the evolution of its mobile platform. As part of a newly formed engineering team, they are looking for an experienced iOS Software Engineer to help drive the development of high-quality mobile experiences used by customers at scale.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled iOS Engineer with strong Objective-C expertise to join a high-performing mobile engineering team. You'll play a key role in developing new features, modernising existing functionality, and helping shape the technical direction of a widely used mobile application.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain native iOS applications using Objective-C and Swift.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable and maintainable mobile solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, build and launch new features.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction across the mobile platform.
- Integrate iOS applications with Back End services and APIs.
- Improve application performance, reliability and user experience.
- Write clean, reusable and well-tested code using modern engineering practices.
- Support automated testing, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Refactor existing code and introduce appropriate design patterns where required.
- Mentor and support other engineers within the team.
- Participate in experimentation and feature rollouts to optimise customer experience.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience developing native iOS applications.
- Expert-level Objective-C development skills.
- Strong Swift development experience.
- Experience working with UIKit and SwiftUI.
- Proven experience working within large and complex mobile codebases.
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns and engineering best practices.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong understanding of application life cycle management and App Store deployment processes.
- Experience integrating APIs and Back End services.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks would be beneficial.
- Experience with Fastlane, CocoaPods, Realm and Firebase is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and experience working within agile engineering teams.
