About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated iOS Engineer to join our established engineering team in Manchester on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-impact native iOS features within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling iOS applications, working on short development cycles, and integrating backend-driven UI solutions. The role requires a proactive approach, the ability to work independently with minimal onboarding, and a passion for delivering high-quality, production-ready code.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess several years of professional experience in iOS development, demonstrating proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit. Strong knowledge of modern architectural patterns such as MVVM, as well as experience with Xcode and REST/GraphQL APIs, is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of quickly adapting to large, existing codebases and working within CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with unit testing, crash reporting, observability tools, and AI-assisted workflows like Claude or Codex will be advantageous. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if equivalent experience is demonstrated.

Responsibilities
- Develop native iOS features from initial technical design to final release, utilizing Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit to create seamless user experiences.
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, ensuring efficient data handling and smooth backend-driven UI updates.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, maintaining comprehensive unit tests to ensure application stability and performance.
- Debug and resolve production issues promptly, utilizing crash reporting and observability tools to monitor app stability and user experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, designers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality features within tight deadlines.
- Stay updated with the latest iOS development trends and incorporate best practices to improve app performance and user engagement.
