About The Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled iOS Engineer to join our dynamic mobile development team at Starling Bank. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a feature-rich mobile banking application used by millions of customers across the UK. As part of our cross-functional engineering teams, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our iOS app, ensuring it remains reliable, secure, and user-friendly.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Swift and UIKit, with experience in building modular, maintainable, and testable code following MVVM-C architecture. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver innovative features and improve existing functionalities. Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a solid background in iOS development, with proficiency in Swift and UIKit. Experience with reactive programming frameworks such as RxSwift is desirable but not mandatory. A good understanding of MVVM-C architecture, auto layout, and modular code design is essential. Knowledge of security best practices in mobile app development, especially in a banking environment, is highly valued.

Candidates should have a strong focus on accessibility and usability, with a passion for creating seamless user experiences. Prior experience working on high-traffic, production-level mobile applications is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure iOS applications using Swift and UIKit, following best practices and architectural patterns such as MVVM-C.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver innovative features that enhance the user experience.
  • Implement accessibility features to ensure the app is usable by all customers, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, utilizing tools like SwiftLint, SwiftFormat, and Sourcery to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, share knowledge, and continuously improve development processes and tools.
  • Focus on security implications in all aspects of app development, ensuring customer data remains protected at all times.
  • Contribute to the planning and estimation of features, providing technical insights and innovative solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying relevant innovations to improve our mobile platform.
