Role Description

This is a 3 month remote contract role for an IoT Engineer.

The IoT Engineer will design, develop, and integrate IoT solutions that support secure products and platforms for clients, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Building and testing device prototypes
  • Developing software and firmware
  • Implementing connectivity and data collection pipelines
  • Troubleshooting issues across hardware and software layers

The role involves collaborating with consultants and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs, documenting system architectures, and supporting deployment, monitoring, and optimization of IoT solutions in production environments.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) concepts, architectures, and protocols, including device connectivity, data ingestion, and cloud integration.
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi or similar single-board computers for prototyping, testing, and deploying IoT solutions.
  • Understanding RF/electronic components where applicable to project needs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure) and IoT services, as well as basic networking and security best practices.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in tech consulting or working with small and medium-sized businesses is beneficial, along with exposure to secure product and platform development.
