Job Summary
The IoT Specialist will support the configuration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting of IoT hardware and connected systems used in customer installations worldwide. This role is critical to ensuring devices are properly configured, validated, and installation-ready before shipment and deployment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with IoT devices, gateways, sensors, networking, and cloud-connected systems. This position works closely with Installation Operations, Building Controls, Project Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.
Responsibilities
- Configure, test, and deploy IoT hardware including gateways, sensors, meters, and communication devices.
- Support deployment of LTE, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, LoRaWAN, and other connected technologies across customer sites globally.
- Validate device connectivity, communication, and data transmission to cloud platforms.
- Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, connectivity, and networking issues during pre-deployment and post-installation.
- Support hardware staging, configuration, labeling, and quality assurance processes in the Hood River warehouse.
- Collaborate with Building Controls, Project Managers, and Engineering teams to support successful project execution.
- Develop and configure decoders to support integration of new IoT devices.
- Assist with deployment readiness by ensuring equipment is configured and installation-ready prior to shipment.
- Support testing of new hardware, sensors, and IoT technologies for customer use cases.
- Maintain documentation, technical procedures, and configuration standards.
- Build and maintain test environments for IoT devices and solutions.
- Provide technical support to field teams, installers, and internal stakeholders during deployments.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, deployment efficiency, and operational scalability.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely and accurate movement of equipment and materials.
- Manage inventory levels, tracking equipment, and materials to maintain accurate records and availability.

Experience
- 3+ years of experience in IoT, networking, systems support, hardware deployment, or related technical roles.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and wireless communication technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting connected hardware and cloud-integrated systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally.

Nice to Have
- Experience with IoT gateways and edge devices.
- Experience with sensor integration and telemetry systems.
- Experience with cellular connectivity (LTE), Wi-Fi, Ethernet.
- Experience with LoRaWAN or other wireless communication protocols.
- Experience with cloud-based IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or similar.
- Networking fundamentals including IP addressing, DNS, firewalls, and routing.
- Experience with device provisioning, firmware management, and remote diagnostics.
