We are currently recruiting for an experienced IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Supervisor to support a project in Grangemouth from 26th August to 18th November.

Overall Purpose of the Role

The IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Supervisor shall be capable of taking complete responsibility for rope access safety during work projects and will be conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation. The successful candidate will demonstrate all the skills and knowledge of Levels 1 and 2, possess a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques and the IRATA certification scheme, and be familiar with the contents of the IRATA International Code of Practice.

The IRATA Level 3 Supervisor will ensure that both themselves and their team work in line with Applus+ safe working procedures. The role is carried out in accordance with Company policies and procedures to deliver the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The responsibilities of the IRATA Level 3 Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a safe, secure and healthy working environment by adhering to Company and client safety standards, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Carry out rope access activities including inspection, maintenance, repairs, FM activities and cleaning works on buildings and structures.
  • Undertake rope access work in accordance with training, certification and project requirements.
  • Perform a specified range of rope access tasks.
  • Work under instruction from the Rope Access Project Manager and Service Coordinators.
  • Be fully conversant with rope access procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of personal and team rope access equipment.
  • Demonstrate competency in rope rigging, anchor selection, deviations and rope protection.
  • Carry out industrial rope access work aligned to trade qualifications and experience.
  • Operate tools, machinery and equipment as required.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills with a focus on teamwork.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards safety, training and environmental responsibility.
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and within required timescales.
  • Produce concise reports for management and clients.
  • Ensure daily reports are completed for each project or task.
  • Supervise and maintain productivity of team members during periods of reduced scope or downtime.
  • Lead and supervise rope access teams while ensuring compliance with IRATA and Company standards.
  • Take responsibility for rescue planning and emergency preparedness on site.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Current IRATA Level 3 Certification
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • OPITO or Train the Painter
  • CCNSG, IOSH or equivalent Safety Passport
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Strong technical understanding of the IRATA Level 1 and 2 syllabus
  • High level of competence in rescue and rigging techniques
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking rope access activities
  • Ability to work safely and comfortably at height
  • Adaptable and able to work in changing environments
  • Strong teamworking skills and ability to follow procedures
  • Basic computer literacy

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience operating and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Competent use of hand tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from a range of backgrounds and experience levels
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Rigging, ICATS or TTP Certification
  • Confined Space Certification
  • Offshore Certification
