Job Description
Are you passionate about children in care and their carers? Are you driven by relationship-based practice and have high standards? Are you an experienced Social Worker in Fostering or Independent Reviewing Officer for Fostering?
If yes, York is the place to be!
At City of York, we want to see all children and young people grow and thrive in foster families if they cannot be at home. This role sits within the IRO Service and is responsible for the statutory review of foster carers and quality assurance of our residential provision through Reg44 processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your caseload
- Child-centered approach
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to chair challenging meetings
- Ability to achieve collaborative resolution of complex issues
- Skilled in working with children of all ages, their families, carers, multi-agency partnerships, and senior managers

Requirements
- Not suitable for newly qualified social workers
- Public-facing role requiring competency to converse and provide advice and guidance in spoken English to CEFR level C1
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working arrangements available
- Contractual location will be the designated council office for your team
