IS Applications Lead - Contract

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Contract: Contract / Day Rate - Negotiable

Duration: 24 Months

We're looking for an experienced IS Applications Lead to take ownership of a broad applications estate, with SAP at its core, within a complex multi-site organisation.

The role will provide technical and commercial oversight across applications, managing outsourced service providers, vendors and key application projects, while ensuring strong governance, security, performance and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management, lifecycle and performance of the applications estate, including SAP.
  • Oversee SAP landscape, integrations, hosting, change and release management.
  • Manage third-party vendors, outsourced support teams, contracts, licensing and renewals.
  • Act as a key interface between internal teams, suppliers, auditors and external stakeholders.
  • Lead application upgrades, implementations, changes and replacement projects.
  • Coordinate application testing and UAT.
  • Maintain application architecture, technical documentation and service catalogues.
  • Support IT General Controls, cyber security, assurance and audit activities.
  • Lead and support major incident response and application escalations.
  • Oversee integrations and act as the central point of coordination between vendors.
  • Support commercial activities including contract renewals, tenders and supplier performance.

About You

You'll have strong experience in applications management within a complex organisation, with a solid understanding of SAP, Azure, Microsoft 365 and enterprise application environments.

You should also have:

  • Strong SAP change/release management experience.
  • Experience managing outsourced IT/application service providers.
  • Good understanding of IT General Controls, governance and cyber security.
  • Experience with application lifecycle, incident, problem and change management.
  • Strong vendor, contract and commercial management skills.
  • Experience coordinating application testing/UAT and project delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and escalation-handling skills.
