Job Description: Clinic Manager for Television Production on Remote South Pacific Island
WEM is contracted to provide emergency medical and rescue support to a television production filmed on a remote South Pacific island. We’re recruiting a Clinic Manager to run the on-location clinic for the duration of the shoot: managing day-to-day clinic operations, the medical team’s rota, supplies and patient records, and acting as the operational link between the clinical team on the ground and the Project Medical Director.
This is a hands-on role in a genuinely remote, resource-limited setting. You’ll be part of a small multidisciplinary medical team providing cover for cast, crew and local staff, with no permanent hospital nearby and evacuation as the fallback for anything beyond the clinic’s capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the day-to-day operation of the on-location clinic, including opening hours and patient flow for cast, crew and local staff
- Manage the clinical team’s rota, including overnight on-call cover, so the clinic is staffed appropriately around the production schedule
- Manage medical supplies and equipment: stock control, ordering, replenishment and safe storage in a remote setting with limited resupply
- Maintain patient records and clinic documentation, including electronic patient record systems and stock/inventory logs, in line with GDPR and clinical governance requirements
- Act as the operational link between the on-site clinical team and the Project Medical Director and Operations Director, escalating clinical or logistical issues as needed
- Support the wider medical/rescue response for the production, which may require carrying a response bag over rough terrain
- Support colleagues, fostering a positive, supportive team culture and building a cohesive, resilient team in an isolated setting
- Set and uphold behavioural standards within the clinical team and wider medical/rescue group, role-modelling professionalism in a close-knit, high-pressure location
- Liaise with local medical and evacuation providers as directed by the Medical Director, supporting transfer and retrieval arrangements where required
- Contribute to interdepartmental working and reporting, including regular clinic activity reports to WEM management
- Maintain strict confidentiality in line with the production’s non-disclosure requirements

Essential Criteria
- Qualified doctor, paramedic or nurse; full registration in home country with no restrictions; Advanced Life Support qualification
- 3 years’ post-qualification clinical experience; experience managing teams and rotas; experience managing medical supplies, including equipment/resource inspection records
- Previous experience of health systems in LMIC countries; demonstrates ability to support and nurture colleagues
- IT skills including managing electronic patient records and stock levels; familiarity with basic rescue equipment (e.g. scoop, basket and vacuum stretchers); interdepartmental working and report writing
- Physically fit, able to carry a response bag in rough terrain; willing to work an on-call night rota that adapts to staffing levels, including short-term peaks of up to a 50:50 share of responsibilities.
- Clear DBS check or local equivalent
Working Pattern and Terms
- Contract dates: 1 February – 12 July 2027 (on-location, subject to confirmation of exact deployment weeks nearer the time)
- Pay: US$2,300 per week (paid in GBP equivalent) + travel pay
- Reporting line: Project Medical Director
On-call: Overnight on-call cover required approximately 2–3 times per week as part of the wider clinical rota. On-call demand is likely to be higher during the first 4–5 weeks of deployment, when the clinical team is at its smallest, and if a colleague is away on a medevac the remaining clinician(s) may need to cover until they return. This is a small-team role, and candidates should be comfortable working flexibly and adapting to on-call demands as the needs of the project change.
Location and living conditions: Based at the production’s on-location base camp on a remote South Pacific island. Expect basic, shared accommodation and facilities typical of a remote production location; travel, accommodation and subsistence arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate in line with WEM’s standard contractor terms

Contracting basis: Engaged as WEM personnel/contractor for the duration of the production; not an employee of the production company or broadcaster
Insurance cover: WEM holds medical malpractice and professional indemnity insurance covering all its workers on this contract, including the Clinic Manager.
Confidentiality: The role requires signing WEM and production non-disclosure agreements; candidates should not discuss the production, its location or its partners publicly at any stage of the application or engagement
