Job Description: ISR Systems Technician

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an ISR Systems Technician based in United Kingdom.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle sustainment of advanced airborne ISR mission systems. You will help ensure critical systems remain reliable, validated, and mission-ready in demanding operational environments. The position spans RF, networking, software, sensors, communications, and mission computing technologies. You will work independently while collaborating closely with engineering, sustainment, and operational teams. Your expertise will directly contribute to the availability and performance of systems used in real-world intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. The role offers significant technical responsibility, field exposure, and opportunities to work with sophisticated mission technologies in a fast-moving environment.

Accountabilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and sustain airborne ISR mission systems, including EO/IR sensors, tactical radios, mission computers, radar systems, data links, video networks, moving-map software, and SIGINT equipment.
  • Conduct pre-mission system checks, field-level troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and system validation to ensure operational readiness.
  • Perform Windows and Linux administration tasks, including scripting, log analysis, patch management, and user account administration.
  • Use spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, RF power meters, and other test equipment to isolate faults and validate system performance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP-based mission networks, including subnetting, static routing, VLAN tagging, and secure transport links.
  • Diagnose issues across RF, power, and IP-based interfaces using technical schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Perform software loads, firmware updates, and configuration changes in accordance with approved system baselines and security requirements.
  • Support the integration and validation of new hardware and software capabilities in collaboration with engineering and sustainment teams.
  • Produce detailed technical feedback and field reports to support root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and long-term lifecycle planning.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicate technical capabilities, limitations, support requirements, and opportunities for innovation clearly.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and provide hands-on technical support in hangar, flightline, and deployed environments.
  • Travel internationally as required to support operational and mission needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
