FTSE Russell | Senior Associate/Location: London / Hybrid

Role Purpose

FTSE Russell is seeking a capable, organised and detail-oriented Issue Management Associate to support the effective operation of the first-line Issue Management framework across the global business.

This role will play an important part in coordinating issue lifecycle activity, supporting remediation delivery, maintaining high-quality issue records and producing reliable management information for governance and senior oversight. The Associate will help ensure that issues are consistently recorded, appropriately assessed, actively monitored and supported through to closure in line with LSEG standards and FTSE Russell’s first-line risk and control expectations.

Working within the 1LOD Risk & Control function, the role will partner with Issue Owners, Action Owners, Risk & Control colleagues and governance collaborators to strengthen issue management discipline across the business. This includes monitoring remediation plans, challenging data quality gaps, preparing governance materials, tracking decisions and actions, and supporting the production of clear, accurate and audit-ready reporting.

The role requires someone who can operate with a good degree of independence, manage competing priorities, follow up effectively with collaborators and help identify recurring themes, process weaknesses or emerging risks from issue data. It is well suited to someone with prior experience in governance, controls, risk, audit support, operational resilience, issue management or remediation environments who is looking to deepen their expertise in a regulated financial services and market infrastructure business!

Key Responsibilities

Issue Lifecycle Coordination

  • Support the day-to-day coordination of the end-to-end Issue Management framework, including issue identification, assessment, remediation tracking, governance reporting and closure preparation.
  • Ensure issue records are complete, accurate and maintained in line with agreed procedures, including ownership, ratings, root cause, impact assessment, action plans, milestones, target dates and closure evidence.
  • Review new and existing issue records to identify gaps, inconsistencies or unclear information, and work with Issue Owners to resolve these in a timely manner.
  • Monitor remediation delivery, including action progress, ageing, overdue milestones, dependency risks and closure readiness.
  • Follow up with Issue Owners and Action Owners to obtain timely status updates, evidence and remediation progress commentary.
  • Support issue triage and prioritisation by helping to assess completeness of issue information, alignment to procedural requirements and potential escalation triggers.
  • Assist in preparing issues for governance review, closure challenge or escalation, ensuring key risks, dependencies and decisions are clearly presented.
  • Maintain visibility of issue lifecycle health and escalate overdue, unclear or at-risk items to senior colleagues.

Governance, Reporting and Management Information

  • Produce regular Issue Management reporting and dashboards, covering issue volumes, ageing, remediation status, overdue actions, closure progress, risk themes and emerging hotspots.
  • Support preparation of governance packs for issue forums, risk committees, working groups and senior management updates.
  • Track governance decisions, actions and escalations, ensuring these are clearly recorded and followed through to completion.
  • Analyse issue data to identify recurring themes, common root causes, control weaknesses or systemic risk drivers.
  • Provide clear commentary to accompany MI, explaining key movements, areas requiring attention and potential risks to delivery.
  • Help ensure MI is accurate, reconciled, timely and suitable for senior management, second line, audit or regulatory review.
  • Support the development of more insightful and action-oriented reporting that moves beyond status updates to highlight trends, root causes and management priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
