IT Applications / Technical Solutions Architect– Oil & Gas Major - £75k Basic
Global energy trading arm of oil & gas major seeks an IT Applications Architect / Technical Solutions Architect to provide technical oversight of the local IT infrastructure and technology landscape, coordinating with Group IT teams and external providers, and supporting the delivery and evolution of effective technology solutions.
Role & responsibilities
Working 3 days per week out of their Central London office with 2 days working remotely / working from home, you’ll work as the primary point of contact for all BAU activities across local applications and services, monitoring performance, identifying operational risks, and ensuring timely incident resolution through close coordination with internal teams and external vendors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a broad understanding of the local technology landscape, including infrastructure, network, applications, cloud services, integrations, data flows and key external dependencies.
- Manage the intake, clarification, and prioritisation of business demands, maintaining structured registers, refining requirements, and supporting the full lifecycle of small changes, releases, and functional enhancements.
- Act as a key technical interface with Group IT teams, ensuring local technology needs and initiatives are aligned with Group architecture, cybersecurity standards and strategic direction.
- Oversee vendor performance for assigned applications and services, ensuring service quality, contractual alignment, and effective issue escalation.
- Support technology lifecycle activities, including upgrades, migrations, rationalisation and decommissioning, with a focus on reducing legacy complexity and enabling future capabilities.
- Contribute to the evolution and modernisation of the local technology landscape, identifying opportunities for simplification, automation, cloud adoption and improved integration.
- Support the evaluation and adoption of new applications, cloud services, AI-enabled solutions and other emerging technologies, considering technical feasibility, integration, security and operational impact.

£75k basic + bonus + excellent benefits
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and dynamic IT Applications / Technical Solutions Architect to join a world leading oil & gas business in a business critical IT leadership role.
Key skills & experience sought
- 5-10 years prior experience in a role related to infrastructure, technical architecture, solution architecture role for a major blue chip multinational business.
- Experience working in an international business, supporting London office IT infrastructure and technology in coordination with an international HQ.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies, applications and system integrations.
- Experience supporting technology implementations, infrastructure changes, upgrades, migrations and decommissioning activities.
- Fantastic senior stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related subject
