Roles & Responsibilities of an IT Assistant

Technical Support

  • Help Desk Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for IT-related issues and inquiries. Respond to support requests via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software malfunctions to ensure minimal downtime for users.
  • Installation and Configuration: Assist in the setup and configuration of computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.

Network Management

  • Basic Networking Support: Aid in the maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This includes monitoring network performance and connectivity issues.
  • User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts in various systems, ensuring appropriate permissions and access levels.

Maintenance and Documentation

  • System Maintenance: Regularly update and patch software applications and operating systems to ensure security and performance.

Assisting IT Projects

  • Project Participation: Assist in IT projects such as hardware upgrades, software deployments, or implementation of new IT solutions.
  • Training: Provide basic training to employees on new technologies, software applications, and best practices for maintaining security and software hygiene.

Inventory Management

  • Equipment Inventory: Help manage inventory of IT equipment, including computers, printers, and accessories. Ensure that the inventory is up-to-date and properly tracked.
  • Supplies Ordering: Monitor supply levels and assist in ordering replenishment for hardware and software licenses as needed.
