Primary Duties

  • The IT Assistant A will assist students and staff using the Faculty of Education AV (audio/visual) Loans Centre.
  • Depending upon assigned shift, open the AV Loan Centre in the morning and close it in the evening
  • Help students, academic staff, and support staff with basic use of computers, presentation equipment, video and audio recording equipment, and other audiovisual equipment as required
  • Maintain an "alert presence" in the AV Loan Centre
  • Operate the AV loan service by creating reservations and processing checkouts and returns using our asset management software Web checkout
  • Keep track of the AV Loan equipment inventory
  • Understand the basic operating fundamentals of the AV loan equipment and provide practical tips and operations advice to clientele.
  • Loan Psychology testing kits to ECP students following the AMRC protocols
  • Other related duties as required

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience interacting with people in a customer service or assisting role
  • Familiar with the use of computers, presentation equipment, video, and audio equipment
  • General knowledge of common computer software
  • Familiar with asset management software is an asset
  • Reliable, punctual and professional with good communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), some basic French (spoken) is an asset

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Required:
    • Work Study eligible for the 2026-2027 academic year - PLEASE SUBMIT WORKSTUDY APPROVAL LETTER WITH APPLICATION
    • Current McGill student who will be enrolled in a degree program for the 2026-2027 academic year

  • Estimated Number of Work Hours per Week: 12 (Part time)
  • Position Start Date: 2026-09-01
  • Position End Date: 2027-04-30
