About the Role
We are working with a globally recognised engineering, infrastructure, and professional services organisation on an exciting opportunity for an IT Automation Architect.
This is a newly created position focused on building an enterprise-wide IT Automation Centre of Excellence (COE) from the ground up.
You will take ownership of developing the automation strategy, governance and architectural principles across a large and complex technology environment. Working closely with senior IT leadership, you will help shape how automation is assessed, governed and scaled across the organisation.
This is a strategic and architectural role, rather than a hands-on automation engineering position.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and establish the organisation's IT Automation Centre of Excellence
- Define the enterprise-wide automation strategy, principles and roadmap
- Establish governance frameworks, standards, guardrails and architectural principles
- Assess existing automation capabilities, tooling and processes across IT
- Identify opportunities to scale and improve automation across multiple technology functions
- Work across Infrastructure, Cloud, Data Centre, Applications and Security
- Engage and influence Director and VP-level IT stakeholders
- Provide strategic direction on automation architecture and operating models
- Develop frameworks for evaluating and prioritising automation opportunities
- Shape the long-term operating model and evolution of the Automation COE
- Partner with technical teams responsible for delivering automation across their respective functions

About You
We are looking for an experienced automation leader who has operated at enterprise scale and understands how to take automation beyond an individual technology team.
You will ideally have:
- Significant, multi-year experience in IT Architect / leadership
- Interest / passion for Automation
- Previous experience building, leading Automation initiatives
- Experience delivering automation across multiple IT functions
- Strong understanding of automation architecture, governance and strategy
- Experience working within large and complex enterprise environments
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Confidence engaging with Director and VP-level technology leaders
- Experience across Infrastructure, Cloud or Data Centre environments
- Exposure to Application and/or Security automation would be advantageous
