About The Role

We are seeking a skilled IT Automation Engineer to join our dynamic Colleague Technology Services (CTS) team within NatWest Group. This role is pivotal in enhancing our internal technology environment by automating operational processes and deploying innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reliability. Based in the United Kingdom, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including Service Management, Security, Privacy, Engineering, and HR to ensure the seamless delivery of technology services aligned with organizational standards and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in scripting, orchestration, and automation tools, with a passion for optimizing workflows and supporting digital transformation initiatives. Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in automation engineering, with experience in scripting and orchestration across multiple platforms. A strong understanding of IT infrastructure, application support, and security principles is essential. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience with automation tools and enterprise software.

Expertise in Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management), and familiarity with tools such as Workato, Jamf Pro, Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, and identity management solutions is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and automate NatWest Boxed applications and operational workflows within the CTS team, leveraging scripting and orchestration tools to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Collaborate with Service Management, Security, Privacy, Engineering, and HR teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality technology services that meet organizational standards.
  • Implement and support new workplace IT tools, enhancing the organization’s identity and access management capabilities to ensure secure and efficient user access.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to optimize 1st and 2nd line support tasks, reducing manual effort and increasing operational efficiency.
  • Provide second-line support for technical escalations related to device and application support, managing changes to SaaS applications in line with business needs.
  • Assist in incident resolution activities related to workplace IT tools, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users.
  • Contribute to the growth and maturity of the CTS team by sharing expert engineering knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support the organization in navigating security, privacy, and compliance requirements, ensuring all activities adhere to regulatory standards.
