About The Role
The IT Lead Business Analyst at Yorkshire Water is a pivotal role within the Project team, responsible for guiding complex, high-value transformation initiatives that align with the company's strategic objectives. This role involves leading comprehensive business analysis activities, shaping innovative solutions, and ensuring that change initiatives deliver measurable benefits for customers, colleagues, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish standards, and implement best practices in business analysis and user-centred design. Located initially in Bradford with a future move to Leeds Valley Park, this permanent position offers a hybrid working model, supporting flexible work arrangements. The role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of influencing organizational change and fostering continuous improvement across the enterprise.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in establishing and embedding business analysis standards across multiple teams or functions. Proven expertise in requirements management, stakeholder engagement, and influencing senior leaders is essential. A track record of leading large-scale strategic transformation programmes, combined with strong knowledge of requirements elicitation, prioritisation, and lifecycle management, is required. Experience implementing user-centred design principles—including user research, service design, testing, and evaluation—is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication, relationship-building, and consultancy skills, with the ability to navigate complex environments and translate business needs into actionable outcomes. Leadership experience in developing teams, coaching, and driving continuous improvement is also important. A relevant degree or professional certification in business analysis, project management, or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities
The IT Lead Business Analyst will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive business analysis activities to support Yorkshire Water’s transformation programmes. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting holistic analysis to identify opportunities, risks, dependencies, and impacts within complex environments.
- Defining, establishing, and continuously improving standards, frameworks, and methodologies for requirements management and business analysis across the organization.
- Overseeing the scoping, elicitation, analysis, prioritization, validation, and lifecycle management of requirements for large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with customer needs, regulatory requirements, operational objectives, and long-term business goals.
- Championing user-centred design principles to ensure solutions are accessible, usable, and meet user expectations.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
- Facilitating collaboration among business, technology, and operational teams to achieve successful change outcomes.
- Providing leadership and assurance for analysis activities, driving process improvements, and identifying opportunities to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Monitoring industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and contributing to organizational capability development through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensuring all change initiatives deliver sustainable, compliant, and high-quality results aligned with Yorkshire Water’s strategic and regulatory commitments.
