About The Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to join a major financial services organization on a long-term contract basis. The successful candidate will operate within a highly regulated and critical securities environment, supporting technology solutions that underpin securities, settlement, and post-trade services. This role requires a hands-on approach, bridging the gap between business needs and technological capabilities, ensuring seamless communication and effective delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Central Securities Depositories (CSDs), securities settlement, and post-trade processes within financial market infrastructure. Familiarity with securities messaging standards such as ISO 15022 and ISO 20022 will be highly advantageous, as will experience working within agile delivery teams in complex environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in a dynamic and regulated setting.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a solid background in business analysis within the financial services sector, particularly in securities and post-trade domains. Key qualifications include:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an IT Business Analyst, preferably within financial markets or infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of securities, settlement, post-trade, and custody processes.
- Strong knowledge of Central Securities Depositories (CSDs) and their role in securities ecosystems.
- Familiarity with securities lifecycle events such as trade processing, settlement, custody, and corporate actions.
- Experience with securities messaging standards like ISO 15022 and ISO 20022.
- Proficiency in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting complex requirements.
- Experience with business analysis modeling techniques including BPMN, UML, story mapping, and data modeling.
- Ability to develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases aligned with Agile methodologies.
- Experience supporting testing phases, including system testing, scenario creation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CSDR and the wider regulatory environment affecting securities settlement.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions and process improvements, including:
- Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, technical teams, and other delivery functions to facilitate clear communication and understanding.
- Translate complex operational, functional, tactical, and strategic change initiatives into detailed business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to analyze and understand complex processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Challenge and validate requirements, proposing innovative and practical solutions to meet business objectives.
- Lead requirements gathering workshops, ensuring comprehensive documentation and consensus among stakeholders.
- Analyze existing business processes, data flows, and systems to identify inefficiencies and areas for enhancement.
- Produce high-quality documentation including business requirements, stakeholder analyses, functional specifications, and non-functional requirements.
- Develop detailed process and system models utilizing techniques such as BPMN, UML, and data modeling.
- Work alongside developers, architects, testers, and product owners to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented correctly.
- Support the deployment and implementation of system changes, providing guidance and support to stakeholders throughout the process.
- Create and validate test scenarios to ensure system functionality aligns with business needs.
- Participate in testing phases, including system testing, integration testing, and UAT, ensuring thorough validation of solutions.
- Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle, managing risks, issues, and dependencies effectively.
- Promote best practices in business analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
