Business Applications Support Specialist

We are looking for a Business Applications Support Specialist to join our IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in IT Support, Application Support, or a Service Desk role who enjoys troubleshooting technical issues, supporting business systems, and helping users get the most from technology.

You'll be the first point of contact for application-related queries, supporting colleagues across the business and helping to keep our critical systems running smoothly. Working with platforms such as MESTEC, ERP, and PLM systems, you'll investigate issues, identify solutions, and liaise with suppliers when specialist support is required.

Hours

This is a full-time position, Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm and 8:30am-4:30pm on Friday.

Salary

£35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for application-related incidents, requests, and queries
  • Troubleshoot software and system issues, identifying root causes, and resolving problems where possible
  • Log, track, and manage support tickets through to resolution or escalation
  • Support business-critical applications including MESTEC, ERP, and PLM systems
  • Use SQL queries to investigate issues, validate data, and support problem-solving activities
  • Work closely with end users to understand issues and provide clear updates
  • Escalate more complex issues to third-party suppliers and software vendors
  • Support Item Master and PLM data updates in line with agreed processes
  • Create and maintain support documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Assist with application testing, upgrades, and system improvements
  • Work collaboratively with IT colleagues and stakeholders across the business

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in IT Support, Application Support, Service Desk, or Helpdesk environments
  • Experience troubleshooting software, systems, or business application issues
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • The ability to quickly understand new systems and business processes
  • Experience using ticketing or service management systems
  • Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge would be advantageous
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, ERP, MES, or PLM systems would be beneficial
  • Exposure to MESTEC or similar Manufacturing Execution Systems would be an advantage, but is not essential
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn and develop
