Brighton & Hove City Council is recruiting for the role of IT Business & Commercial Manager. The role leads the commercial, contractual, supplier, purchasing and financial management functions for IT & Digital. It also involves budget planning, procurement and advice across projects, decisions and senior forums.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the commercial, contractual, supplier, purchasing and financial management functions for IT & Digital.
  • Act as the division’s lead contact to corporate finance, procurement and legal.
  • Coordinate budget-setting and medium-term financial planning with Heads of Service.
  • Coordinate procurement pipelines and make sure technology procurements are done well.
  • Maintain the division-wide technology and commercial contracts register and track renewals.
  • Provide commercial and financial advice and assurance to projects and decisions.
  • Represent IT & Digital in supplier, partner and corporate forums and deputise when required.

What they’re looking for

  • Be IACCM qualified, CIPS Level 5 qualified, or have equivalent substantial professional experience.
  • Have strong knowledge of commercial and contract management across the full lifecycle.
  • Have good knowledge of public-sector procurement, governance and decision-making.
  • Have broad knowledge of technology markets and commercial models.
  • Have significant experience leading a commercial, contract, supplier or business management function in a large or complex organisation.
  • Have demonstrable experience managing high-value and strategically important technology contracts and suppliers.
  • Have substantial experience of budget planning, forecasting, financial monitoring and presenting financial information to senior leaders.
  • Have significant management experience, including leading and developing specialist staff.
