IT Business Partner for Engineering/R&D

We're looking for an IT Business Partner for Engineering/R&D who will be the primary point of contact between the business and IT for applications and technology tools within their remit.

This role partners closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand processes, shape requirements, and ensure systems are implemented and optimised to meet business needs. Combining the skills of a business analyst, functional consultant, solution consultant, and solution architect, the role also provides direction to one or more system administrators or application specialists supporting the domain.

Location & Working Model

  • London, Hybrid (flexible)

Requirements

  • 8+ years in IT business-partnering, systems ownership, or platform product management, ideally in a PE-owned or high-growth software company.
  • Experience and knowledge of Product and Engineering processes in a software delivery environment.
  • Strong experience in enterprise applications, business systems, or technology partnering roles.
  • A blended skill set spanning business analysis, functional consulting, solution design, and systems optimisation.
  • Proven ability to work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical technology solutions.
  • Experience with platforms relevant to the assigned domain.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading or coordinating the work of administrators, analysts, or third-party partners.
  • Comfortable working across both strategic planning and hands-on functional leadership.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience; relevant certifications are an advantage.
  • Proven track record working for a Born-in-the-Cloud or Cloud-Native technology company — must have.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
