The Recipe

To lead a team of IT Business Systems Managers and/or Developers, ensuring the effective delivery of IT application solutions to the business; that are developed in complete alignment with business needs to support the organisation in delivery of the business strategy.

Key Accountabilities and Measures

  • Establish effective partnering relationships with the Business Management Board, Business Leaders and Senior Managers across relevant business areas to drive the development and delivery of IT applications to enable business strategy.
  • Lead, motivate, coach and develop the Business Systems Managers, Developers and wider IT Team to ensure they have the right level of capability and are fully engaged to achieve the strategy, goals and targets set. Identify development opportunities for self and their team.
  • Oversee and drive the development and implementation of IT solution roadmaps across the relevant business functions. Ensuring their teams expertise adds value to the process, raises the bar and leads to solution delivery. Act as the main point of liaison between the relevant business functions.
  • Manage own budget area to ensure cost efficiency and value for money when securing services.
  • Maintain own and teams continuous development, knowledge of applications and best practice IT approach to ensure the Business Management Board, Business Leaders and Managers have a reliable and professional IT consultancy service to meet their needs.
  • Lead the implementation of specific IT/Business change initiatives as required.
  • Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships. Ensuring that services provided are to the required standard to support the business.
  • Provide user support and training for their business functions. Ensuring that support process are adhered to and critical business processes are conducted.

Essential Ingredients

  • Passionate about working collaboratively with the business to deliver excellent solutions.
  • Experience in a Business Partnering role, ideally gained in a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, using these relationships to keep up to date with changing technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of business processes, with a drive to understand other areas and teams.
  • Strong abilities to seek and identify business needs, delve into the processes and establish complete requirements.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining effective, mutually beneficial, relationships, working in collaboration to create positive results.
  • Explore new and existing technologies, both internally and externally to produce potential and innovative solutions to business opportunities.
  • Understand both business and functional strategies, rising to the challenge to help deliver progress against them.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, absorbing information quickly and acting with appropriate pace and commitment.
  • Providing appropriate challenge to situations in a positive and decisive manner, prompting people to think differently.
  • Broad knowledge of IT architecture and applications.
  • Experience in the implementation of new IT solutions ensuring that they meet business needs and are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Successful experience of leading and managing engaged teams towards high performance.
  • Has the ability to energise others to ensure execution with passion.
  • Prioritising and delegating - Ability to plan, identify and mitigate risk, organise and monitor a diverse workload with drive and persistence.
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate; influential; persuasive; and politically savvy.
