Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.

The IT Buyer plays a key role in managing the IT procurement lifecycle and asset management for software and hardware, while supporting the procurement strategy and working with Category Management to identify and deliver savings and benefits.
- You’ll champion the department’s success by guiding it through the entire procurement lifecycle and IT asset management processes — ensuring every decision is efficient, strategic, and compliant.

- You’ll scrutinise and challenge supplier spend, validating every cost and ensuring we get maximum value from every pound invested.
- You’ll unlock savings by negotiating hard, benchmarking smartly, consolidating suppliers, managing demand, and leading tender activities that deliver measurable results.
- You’ll be the go‑to expert for bulk licence renewals — pulling together accurate data, spotting opportunities, and securing competitive commercial quotes that protect our bottom line.
- You’ll spot the real value drivers in our third‑party software renewals, ensuring that every renewal is strategic and delivers a strong return on investment.
- You’ll keep the business moving by triaging service requests and turning around software and hardware demands quickly and efficiently.
- You’ll build trusted partnerships with stakeholders across the business — managing expectations, resolving queries, and keeping communication open and productive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
