IT Category Manager – Global Technology Procurement
Newcastle / Edinburgh / Glasgow | £65,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Package
I’m partnering with a major global organisation that is investing heavily in its procurement function and continuing to develop its Technology Procurement capability. They are looking for a bright, ambitious IT procurement professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into a broader Category Manager role.
You do not need to already be an experienced Category Manager. This could be an excellent opportunity for someone currently operating at Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Specialist or Procurement Specialist level who has gained some exposure to IT procurement and is looking for greater responsibility, development, and progression.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of IT Procurement, providing excellent exposure, support, and development while gradually taking ownership of a portfolio of UK and global technology spend.
There is also a significant greenfield element to the role, giving you the opportunity to help develop category strategies and shape how Technology Procurement operates across the organisation.

The Opportunity
- Develop your experience across UK and global IT procurement
- Work across Technology categories including Software, SaaS, Hardware, Cloud, Infrastructure, Telecoms, and IT Services
- Support and lead strategic sourcing and tendering projects
- Develop category plans with support from the Head of IT Procurement
- Negotiate with technology suppliers and support contract renewals
- Build relationships with Technology and wider business stakeholders
- Identify savings and commercial improvement opportunities
- Gain exposure to international and greenfield procurement projects
- Develop your strategic category management capabilities
- Gain your first exposure to managing and developing a Buyer
Importantly, previous people-management experience is NOT required. This is an opportunity to develop those skills while being supported by an experienced procurement leader.
Who We're Looking For
- An ambitious procurement professional looking to progress their career
- Some experience within IT / Technology procurement
- Good sourcing, supplier management, and negotiation fundamentals
- Exposure to Software, SaaS, IT Services, or other Technology categories would be advantageous
- Confidence working with stakeholders and suppliers
- Strong commercial aptitude and willingness to learn
- Someone proactive, driven, and keen to take on greater responsibility
- You could currently be a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or Category Specialist looking for your next step
