As an IT Delivery Manager (Senior Officer) within HMRC’s Chief Digital & Information Office (CDIO), you will support the delivery of medium to large-scale IT and digital change across the Borders and Trade (B&T) landscape.

You will be responsible for managing delivery within a structured governance environment, ensuring plans are maintained, risks and dependencies are effectively managed, and delivery remains aligned to business priorities.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and delivery partners, you will play a key role in maintaining delivery momentum, balancing pace, cost and quality while supporting successful outcomes in complex delivery environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of medium to large-scale IT and digital projects or workstreams.
  • Maintain delivery plans, governance and reporting, ensuring clear visibility of progress and risks.
  • Identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Support commercial and financial management, including cost tracking and supplier engagement.
  • Work across multidisciplinary teams and suppliers to maintain delivery alignment and momentum.
  • Support stakeholders by providing clear and timely delivery insight, enabling informed decisions.
  • Apply and adapt Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies to suit delivery context.
  • Support team performance by removing blockers and encouraging effective ways of working.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and the wider Delivery Manager community.

  • Experience managing or supporting the delivery of medium to large-scale IT or digital change.
  • Experience operating within a structured delivery and governance environment, including delivery planning and risk/issue management.
  • Ability to manage risks, issues and dependencies, maintaining delivery control and momentum.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and/or suppliers to achieve delivery outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and support decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies applied in a delivery context.
