The Role

The role of the IT Delivery Lead is to lead and coordinate the delivery of multi-disciplinary project work packages aligned to the Authorities Platform Owners on a day-to-day basis. Projects will evolve over time in response to the overall priorities and needs, therefore some flexibility and comfort with changing work priorities is required.

The role holder should be adept at working effectively across teams; delivering measurable progress within tight project timelines and removing blockers when required.

The IT Delivery Lead is responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of their projects and suppliers to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and aligned with the Authorities priorities and wider implementation plans, are delivered within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

The below are the core requirements but not limited to:

  • Project Initiation: Defining the project, identifying stakeholders, and aligning goals. Responsible and managing for raising Demand, Idea, Project and Impact requests through the Authorities tooling
  • Project Planning: Creating a project plan with timelines, resource allocation, and risk management
  • Project Engagement: Coordinate and manage platform and product enablement and enhancement activities (classed as professional services with internal HMRC teams e.g. Networks, Security
  • Project Execution: Implementing the project plan and completing tasks. Management and tracking of project risks & issues via the Authorities defined tooling.
  • Ensure effective Change and Configuration Management processes are in place to agree, and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders
  • Project Monitoring and controlling: Tracking progress and making necessary adjustments
  • Project Reporting: Providing regular and planned reporting against all in progress enablement and enhancement activities
  • Project Quality assurance: Ensuring the final product meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Project Closure: Closing the project, reflecting on what was learned, and delivering deliverables to stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria

It would be great if you also had practical knowledge and experience of:

  • Waterfall/ Agile and hybrid project delivery.
  • Delivery in an IT environment including transition of services between data centre and Cloud/Hybrid Cloud environment with a good understanding of technology hosted in data centres and Cloud principles
  • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) Certified
  • Delivery Qualifications (e.g. Agile Project Management, Prince2)
