IT Director

Become the technical owner of a business that's investing in its future.

Hybrid | Leamington Spa & Remote

Applicants must be based in the UK and already have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide sponsorship or overseas relocation.

Technology isn't just something we sell. It is the foundation of our business. For more than twenty years, LightMedia has been designing, building and supporting bespoke digital platforms used by professional bodies, healthcare organisations, membership associations and not-for-profit organisations throughout the UK. Thousands of people rely on software we've created.

Now we're entering our next chapter. We're investing in our engineering capability, modernising our technology stack, embracing cloud-native development, improving engineering standards and exploring how AI can make both our products and our developers even better. To help lead that journey, we're looking for an exceptional IT Director.

  • This isn't a traditional IT Director role.
  • You won't inherit multiple layers of management.
  • You won't spend your days sitting in governance meetings.
  • You won't become the head of an internal corporate IT department.

Instead, you'll become the technical owner of LightMedia.

  • You'll shape how technology supports the business.
  • You'll influence the future of our products.
  • You'll develop our engineers.
  • You'll own our Azure platform and cloud infrastructure.
  • You'll drive cyber security, engineering quality and technical standards.

Most importantly, you'll help create software that genuinely solves problems for our customers. Some days you'll be discussing technology investment and long-term strategy with the leadership team. Other days you'll be reviewing architecture, mentoring developers, improving engineering practices or helping solve the most technically challenging client problems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We believe the best technology leaders never become disconnected from technology itself.

What you'll own

This role has genuine influence across the business.

  • You'll define our technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring every technology decision supports our commercial objectives.
  • You'll lead our software engineering function, establishing engineering standards, improving development practices and reducing technical debt whilst maintaining delivery momentum.
  • You'll own our Microsoft Azure estate together with the wider technology platform including Microsoft 365, hosting, DNS, domains, email infrastructure and business-critical systems.
  • You'll lead our cyber security strategy, maintain Cyber Essentials, strengthen organisational resilience and ensure our platforms remain secure, reliable and trusted.
  • You'll recruit, mentor and develop technical talent, building an engineering culture based on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • You'll also work alongside our Operations Director and wider leadership team, helping shape commercial decisions, supporting pre-sales activities and ensuring technology becomes a genuine competitive advantage for the business.

What success looks like

Success won't simply be measured by systems remaining online. You'll know you're succeeding when...

  • Technology becomes recognised as one of LightMedia's competitive advantages.
  • Our engineering standards improve year after year.
  • Our developers become stronger because of your leadership.
  • Customers have complete confidence in the quality, reliability and security of our platforms.
  • The business can confidently scale because the technology foundations are robust.

Our technology

Our platforms currently include technologies such as:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • C#
  • .NET 8+
  • ASP.NET Web Forms (legacy)
  • SQL Server
  • IIS
  • Vue.js
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • HTML & CSS
  • Git
  • Microsoft 365

You don't need to be the deepest technical expert in every technology. But you do need to understand enough to lead confidently, challenge constructively and make sound technical decisions.

We're looking for someone who...

  • Has successfully led software engineering teams.
  • Enjoys building people as much as building software.
  • Can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.
  • Is commercially aware.
  • Enjoys modernising technology rather than simply maintaining it.
  • Believes engineering excellence comes from culture, standards and continual improvement.
  • Still enjoys getting close enough to technology to understand what's really happening.

Why LightMedia?

This is a rare opportunity. Rather than inheriting a mature technology function, you'll help shape one.

  • You'll influence engineering culture.
  • Technology strategy.
  • Product evolution.
  • Technical standards.
  • Security.
  • Cloud.
  • AI adoption.
  • Developer capability.

If you're looking for a role where you can leave a lasting mark on both the business and the people within it, we'd love to hear from you.
