Overview

The IT Engagement Project Lead is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, ensuring business benefits are realized on schedule and within budget. The role directs a Core Project Team of internal and third-party resources across the full project lifecycle, from initial scoping through to handover and post-implementation review. This is a global-remit contract position within the client's Global IT function, covering projects across any business area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage project teams made up of internal staff and third parties
  • Own IT project delivery against agreed benefits, schedule, and budget, including scope and requirements management
  • Evaluate solutions and technical options, including cost/benefit analysis, applying business analysis techniques to define requirements and articulate potential solutions
  • Oversee configuration, commissioning, validation, and acceptance of solutions
  • Facilitate implementation and support the business through change management
  • Maintain project plans and progress reports in line with PMO standards
  • Manage handover of completed projects to Service Delivery and lead post-implementation reviews
  • Provide input to IT Steering Committees on programme delivery and project prioritization
  • Drive continual improvement in ways of working and support effective IT change management

  • IT colleagues across disciplines; business process owners and functional stakeholders

Key Skills

  • Proven project management experience, ideally with global exposure and a strong track record delivering IT projects specifically
  • Agile tools and practices (Azure DevOps, Kanban, Scrum)
  • Experience delivering projects in a secure cloud environment (Azure/AWS preferred)
  • Business analysis background combined with strong communication and facilitation skills (desirable)
  • Exposure to data governance and analytics; PowerBI experience desirable
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Sound understanding of change management, performance management, and security standards
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills across all levels, with a customer-focused, culturally aware approach
  • Project management qualification preferred (e.g. PMP/Prince2); ITIL qualification preferred
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience preferred
