Salary: £26,707 to £30,378 full time, fixed term

Information Systems Services (ISS) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic IT Engineer to join the Campus IT Engineer team, supporting IT Services at Lancaster University. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 28th May 2028.

About the Role

As an IT Engineer, you will join a faculty-based team providing second-line technical support to users of the University’s IT services. In this role, you will offer both on-site and remote technical support to end users. Utilising ITIL-based processes to handle incidents and service requests, you will tackle a wide range of technical challenges, provide advice, and perform preventative maintenance to support the University’s teaching, research, and administrative functions. This includes collaborating with our AV services team to support IT and audio-visual equipment in various learning spaces. Additionally, you will work with the broader teams in ISS to help support the delivery of new and existing services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-line technical support to users of the University’s IT services.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a team-based IT service environment.
  • Knowledge of PC and Audio-Visual systems in use at Higher Education or equivalent establishments.
  • IT and problem-solving skills with a strong user-focus.

About You

This post will be based at Lancaster University Bailrigg campus, working normal business hours. However, on occasion, there will be opportunities to undertake paid work outside those hours. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to undertake a variety of training options.
