About The Role
We Do Data is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join the Systems & Innovation team at a progressive further education college group. This pivotal role involves providing expert technical support for complex IT issues, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures. The successful candidate will serve as the senior escalation point for technical problems, working across multiple departments to ensure seamless IT operations. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the college’s digital future by participating in infrastructure projects, digital transformation initiatives, and continuous service improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows Server environments, virtualization, cloud services, and enterprise applications, with a passion for delivering high-quality IT support in a dynamic educational setting.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a 3rd Line Support or Infrastructure Support role, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of enterprise IT environments. Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP is essential. Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and enterprise business applications is required, along with familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMWare and cloud services like Azure. Candidates should have a solid understanding of system monitoring, patch management, backup solutions, and disaster recovery. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure certifications are highly desirable. A background working within an educational environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Act as the escalation point for complex 2nd and 3rd line technical issues, providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
- Support and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 applications and enterprise-level software solutions.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, backups, patching processes, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure system resilience and security.
- Support virtualization platforms such as VMWare and manage cloud services, particularly Azure.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, digital transformation projects, and ongoing service improvement initiatives.
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and third-party suppliers to deliver reliable and efficient IT services.

Benefits
We Do Data offers a competitive salary package ranging from £40,000 to £44,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. The role is based in Surrey, with a multi-site working environment providing variety and engagement. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:45 to 17:00, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
