Role purpose
As an Apprentice IT Engineer, you will support Velociti Solutions’ IT systems, gaining practical experience and developing the technical skills required to become a Junior IT Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with installation and configuration of computer systems, networks, mobile devices, and cloud services under supervision.
- Support the management of user accounts and group access within Microsoft Entra ID under the direction of senior team members.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Microsoft 365 environment, learning to manage licensing, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook services.
- Support mobile device management and deployment via Microsoft Intune.
- Contribute to endpoint security maintenance and monitoring under guidance.
- Log and manage incoming support incidents via the helpdesk portal, Teams, email, and telephone using Zendesk.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues reported by employees, escalating complex cases to senior team members with detailed information.
- Provide timely updates to employees throughout the resolution process.
Learning and Professional Development
- Document technical issues, solutions, and processes to build organizational knowledge and support your learning.
- Participate in formal apprenticeship training and development activities to achieve the Level 3 Information Communications Technician (ICT) apprenticeship standard.
- Seek feedback from senior team members and apply learning to improve technical knowledge and professional performance.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- A genuine interest in IT and technology, with motivation to learn and develop technical skills.
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT troubleshooting principles (or willingness to develop these).
- Interest in IT security and data protection best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
- Customer empathy and patience when supporting employees.
- Attention to detail in logging and documenting technical issues.
- Reliable and professional in approach, with commitment to learning and development.
- Team player who values collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications (desirable).
- Work collaboratively with the IT Operations team, other departments, and third-party suppliers under supervision.
- Contribute to the team's knowledge-sharing culture through documentation and open communication.
- Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required.
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject
- Non-standard entry with work experience

Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm, 37.5 hours per week.
- Office based during the probation period (4 days per week). Following this, a hybrid working pattern is available, minimum of two days per week in the office.
